Here
you will find innovative contemporary sculpture, textiles, pottery,
jewellery, stained glass, paintings and prints.
Our exhibitions change frequently.
Please have a look around the gallery to find out what's showing
this month
and to see what will be happening in future shows...
If you would like to find out more about a certain artist we
are happy to email you information and images.
We welcome the use of recycled materials: Alison's jewellery
is made from layered handmade paper, threads, embroidery etc
but consciously does not use precious materials.
Zoe
Ruben's "pole birds" are constructed from garden tools,
keys, hinges: all kinds of scrap metals.
Like Kate Risdale's steel sculptures of hares, and chickens,
they are made to be shown in the garden as well as the home.
Suffolk's
medieval churches are a strong influence on resident artist,
Alison Englefield, who explores the multi layered surfaces of
church wall paintings in mixed media abstract compositions and
photographic boxes. The angels have inspired stained glass artist,
Danielle Hopkinson to produce exclusively for the Crooked House
Gallery a series of contemporary angel panels.
Hares abound in Suffolk. They are celebrated in the Crooked
House Gallery in many different media: in Catherine Hyde's
dream-like pictures and prints; in Julia Hulme's ceramic
sculptures, in Paul Jenkin's animated bronze sculptures
and even as hare brooches!
Birds also feature widely in our gallery, from Eva Olmrova's
delightful raku "love birds" to Barbara Karn's witty
and colourful character birds sold as cards and prints.
Lavenham's historic tradition of cloth making has led us to
invest in contemporary textiles: traditional techniques such
as hooked rugs are translated into vibrant abstract
designs by artist Ruth Holden and individually dyed, hand-woven
scarves by Heidi Dooley.
